Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Matt Dumba was not claimed on waivers on Saturday and has been re-assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League.

Dumba was placed on waivers after the Penguins added Brett Kulak as part of their return in a trade for Tristan Jarry from the Edmonton Oilers, along with Stuart Skinner and a second-round pick.

Dumba has one goal and three points in 11 games with the Penguins this season. He is a pending unrestricted free agent, carrying a cap hit of $3.75 million.

The 31-year-old blueliner spent last season with the Dallas Stars, posting one goal and 10 points in 63 games.

Dallas traded Dumba and a second-round pick to the Penguins this past summer in exchange for Vladislav Kolyachonok.

Selected seventh overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 draft, Dumba has 85 goals and 261 points in 748 career games.

Kulak, 31, has two assists in 31 games this season. He is also a pending UFA, carrying a cap hit of $2.75 million this season.

Acquired by Edmonton from the Montreal Canadiens at the 2022 trade deadline, Kulak has been a key piece on the Oilers blueline in each of their runs to the Stanley Cup Final the past two years.
