One of 10 is held in great respect. The Penn Manor field hockey coaching staff has been raised to that esteem.
On Monday, the Comet coaches were honored as the NFHCA Pennsylvania Coaching Staff of the Year. The association recognized 10 staffs across the United States, broken down by region.
“This honor is a true reflection of the incredible work ethic and dedication of our entire program — from the coaches to every player,” Penn Manor head coach Rachel Suter said. “What makes this recognition even more special is that every member of our staff is a proud Penn Manor alumna.”
The Comets had one of their strongest seasons in program history this fall and the most successful under Suter’s watch. Penn Manor charged to a Lancaster-Lebanon League title and struck District Three Class 3A gold with a 3-2 double-overtime win at Mechanicsburg. The Comets advanced to the PIAA semifinals where they lost on a time-expiring ruling against Central Bucks West.
Suter’s group finished with a 21-5-1 record and had four players — Kelby Dings, Chloe and Morgan Hook and Joelle Kroesen — tabbed All-State. The Hook sisters also earned NFHCA All-Region Second Team honors.
The 2025 campaign was Suter’s fifth at the helm. The other staff members recognized were Rylee Leakway, Taylor Lefever, Jen Kroesen and Cassie Townsley.
“We are deeply grateful to the NFHCA for this award, and I am immensely proud of the shared vision, unified effort and collaborative spirit our program exhibits,” Suter said. “Achieving success while genuinely enjoying the process and each other’s company is the ultimate reward, and this recognition validates the hard work we put in every day and fuels our commitment to continued excellence.”
