According to what is circulating at the moment, goaltender Jakub Dobes would be back in net for today’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

I do want to say, however, that we have no confirmation of this.

That said, if this is confirmed, and even if it is ultimately Jacob Fowler who is named the starting goaltender to face Matvei Michkov and the Philadelphia Flyers, the worst would be confirmed for goaltender Samuel Montembeault.

He would have fallen to the status of the Montreal Canadiens’ number-three goaltender, and that would confirm that he is no longer really in Martin St-Louis’ plans.

That would literally put his NHL job in question.

So today will be a very big day to find out what the Montreal Canadiens’ plan is with Samuel Montembeault. Words are one thing, but now it is the actions of Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton that will finally give us a clear answer.

A decisive day for Samuel Montembeault’s future with the Montreal Canadiens

If Laurent Brossoit is claimed by the Habs, that will give us a big answer.

Over his NHL career, Brossoit owns a 2.64 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage across 140 games played.
For comparison, Habs goaltender Sam Montembeault has a career goals-against average of 3.24 and a .897 save percentage in 221 games.

If Fowler or Dobes is named the starter, that will also give us a big answer, especially considering that Montembeault has not received a start in more than two weeks-just imagine!

I really can’t wait to see what happens next.

And if it were your decision, what would you do?
