The Colorado Avalanche are on pace for a historic season, as they have just two regulation losses through their first 32 games. Unsurprisingly, they rank first in the majority of statistics across the board.
That said, their dominant underlying metrics suggest that their success is likely to continue. Entering this matchup, the Avs rank first in expected goal share, expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60), and expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60).
To put this dominance in perspective, not a single other team ranks in the Top 7 in all three of those categories. Simply put, the Seattle Kraken are going to have a tough time matching up in this contest.

Not only do they rank lower in each of those key analytical categories, but the goaltending edge also goes to Colorado, with Mackenzie Blackwood projected to protect the net. Through 12 appearances this year, Blackwood is 9-1-1 with a .920 save percentage and a 2.19 goals-against average.
He outranks Joey Daccord, who is slated to start for Seattle, in all three of those areas.

Nathan MacKinnon leads the league in goals, and I expect him to do more damage tonight.
A MacKinnon goal also makes a Martin Necas assist an easy add to this parlay, considering they skate together on the first power-play unit and he’s assisted two of MacKinnon’s past four goals.
