After three straight losses beyond regulation, the Flyers took care of business in 60 minutes on Tuesday. Late goals proved critical, positioning them for success and leaning on quality goaltending down the stretch.

It resulted in a 4-1 Flyers win over the Montreal Canadiens, snapping a three-game losing streak.

Shots were at a premium for much of the first period, but Montreal was able to strike in transition as the period’s final minute arrived.

Alexandre Texier scored from the slot with one minute left in the first, his third of the season, to give the Canadiens the lead.

The Flyers answered back in just 39 seconds. Carl Grundstrom finished off a pretty passing place with his third goal of the season to make it 1-1 through one period.

Shots were 9-6 Flyers.

The Flyers took the lead at 6:26 of the second period. Emerging from the defensive zone with a two-on-one, Trevor Zegras took the return feed from Travis Konecny and beat Jacob Fowler through the five-hole to make it 2-1 on his 14th of the season.

In the final minute of the second, the Flyers took advantage of a mistake by Fowler. Matvei Michkov swooped in and stole the puck from the rookie netminder, centering for Bobby Brink, who scored his ninth goal of the season with 49 seconds to play in the period.

Through two periods, shots were 18-10 Flyers.

The Flyers were outshot in the third period, 12-3. Dan Vladar took care of the rest, making all 12 saves in the third and finishing with 21 saves on 22 shots in the win. Konecny iced the game with an empty-net goal with just over a minute to play.

Fowler made 17 saves on 20 shots in the loss.

Konecny and Sean Couturier each had multi-point games. Zegras was playing in his 300th NHL game.

The Flyers are back in action on Thursday night to take on the Buffalo Sabres at 7:30 p.m.
