The Vancouver Canucks have signed depth forward Max Sasson to a multi-year contract extension on Monday as the organization continues to plan for the future.
After not making the Vancouver Canucks’ roster out of training camp, forward Max Sasson was looking to prove the team’s coaching staff wrong and after two goals in two games with the American Hockey League’s Abbotsford Canucks, along with injury issues becoming a problem for Adam Foote’s squad, the 25-year-old found his way back onto the NHL roster.
Thanks to his strong start to the season, especially on the defensive side of the puck, the Vancouver Canucks have decided they want to keep Max Sasson around for the years to come.

Since being called back up to the NHL, Sasson has impressed Adam Foote & the coaching staff, along with the team’s management group of Jim Rutherford and Patrik Allvin, and on Monday, the team announced a contract extension for the young centerman.
In a post on social media yesterday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they’ve agreed to terms on a two-year, one-way contract worth $2 million USD ($1 million AAV) with Max Sasson, who was set to become a restricted free agent at season’s end.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with F Max Sasson on a two-year contract with a $1M AAV. the Canucks said on X.
A short while after the signing was made official, General Manager Patrik Allvin put out a statement commenting on the decision, saying that Sasson has made the most of his opportunities at the NHL level and has grown a lot since he initially joined the organization as a free agent in 2023 out of college.
“Max has made the most of the opportunity presented to him this season and has provided us with some solid play. Since signing with the organization out of college, he has shown significant improvement, using his speed and skill to build a strong foundation for his future. Max was a key contributor to our championship run last year in Abbotsford, and we’re excited to watch him continue to grow as a player.” Allvin said.
Sasson, a native of Birmingham, Michigan, has appeared in 58 games in the National Hockey League, all with the Vancouver Canucks, where he’s registered 15 points (six goals, nine assists), ten penalty minutes and is a minus-one.
With Max Sasson locked up for two years following the current campaign, many are wondering if this will accelerate the timeline for Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford to get a trade done with pending unrestricted free agent Teddy Blueger, who is widely speculated to be on the move ahead of Friday, March 6th.
