The Ottawa Senators will add former head coach Jacques Martin to the team’s Ring of Honour next month.
The celebration will take place on Jan. 24,30 years to the day after Martin coached his first game with the Senators in 1996.
“I have been privileged to coach outstanding players and not only great players, but great people. And that was the reason I was able to get there,” Martin said in a team release.
Martin coached the Senators into the playoffs in each of eight full seasons with the team and won the Jack Adams Award in 1999. He also led the Senators to the franchise’s only Presidents’ Trophy in the 2002-03 season.
Martin returned for a second stint with the club during the 2023-24 season and remains an advisor to the current coaching staff.
He remains the Senators all-time coaching leader in games (748), wins (367) and playoff wins (31).
Martin joins Bryan Murray, Wade Redden and Dr. Don Chow as the fourth member of the Senators Ring of Honour inside the Canadian Tire Centre.
