Former Alabama coach Nick Saban has purchased a minority stake in the Nashville Predators, the team announced on Dec. 16.

Saban, who coached Alabama for 17 seasons (2007-23) and is now a co-host on ESPN’s “College GameDay,” will become one of several minority owners of the Predators.

“Being involved in a sports team in Nashville has always been a goal,” Saban said in a team release. “The opportunity to partner in the Predators with a class act like Bill Haslam created the perfect scenario for us.”

Former Tennessee governor Bill Haslam is the majority owner, taking over majority control in July 2025 after purchasing his stake from former owner Herb Fritch.

“(Saban) is one of the all-time greats in college football history and one of the winningest coaches in all of sports,” Haslam said in the release. “We are excited to have him join us in our pursuit of championships on the ice in Nashville.”

Saban purchased the stake through Dream Sports Ventures LLC, an entity controlled by Nick Saban and Joe Agresti. The group also owns Dream Motor Group, which includes 10 auto dealerships, including two in Nashville: Mercedes-Benz of Music City and Prancing Horse of Nashville.

A well-known Predators fan, Saban has not only been seen at Predators games in the past, he also spoke to Predators prospects at development camp over the summer.

“The Preds are a great organization with a fantastic brand, and we are excited to be part of the future success of the franchise,” Saban said in the release.
