Tristan Jarry’s injury has put the spotlight back on the Edmonton Oilers just days after a risky trade. Edmonton moved starting goalie Stuart Skinner for Jarry, despite long-running concerns about his health. Those doubts grew louder Thursday when Jarry left the game against the Boston Bruins with an apparent lower-body injury.

Gene Principe posted on X, sharing head coach Kris Knoblauch’s brief update.

“We’ll see. Not sure how serious it is,” Knoblauch said after the game.

Jarry exited in the second period, forcing Calvin Pickard into action as the Oilers protected a 3-1 win. Sportsnet later shared video of the injury, which fueled fast fan reaction online.

“Oilers didn’t purchase the extended warranty when they made the trade.” One fan joked.

“I hear Stuart Skinner is available.” Another fan quipped. The humor masked real concern about Edmonton’s crease depth.

“Lol, I’m not sure what Edmonton was expecting. Jarry spends half the season on the injured roster. He was due.” One fan wrote.

“Welcome to the Tristan Jarry experience, Oilers fans.” Another fan wrote.

“I’m not surprised by the injury… I am surprised it was so soon.” One fan reacted.

“I’m sorry, Oilers fans. This has been one of the issues with Jarry over the last 2 years. No take-backs for the pick, though.” A fan said.

Jarry’s status remains unclear for the weekend. Edmonton plays Saturday in Minnesota and hosts Vegas on Sunday. Pickard is expected to start at least one game if Jarry cannot dress. The timing stings, as Jarry had won his first two starts with Edmonton before the Bruins game, and now has three wins. So far, he owns a 12-3-1 record with a 2.77 goals-against average and .906 save percentage.

The Oilers acquired Jarry and Samuel Poulin from the Pittsburgh Penguins. In return, the Penguins received Skinner, Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick. The move was meant to steady Edmonton’s goaltending in the regular season and in a potential playoff push.

Edmonton improved to 17-12-6 and remains third in the Pacific. Still, Jarry’s injury has turned optimism into unease, leaving the Oilers waiting for answers.
