Jonatan Berggren is making a solid first impression with the St. Louis Blues, scoring his new team’s only goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the New York Rangers.

According to NHL.com, by the third period, Berggren was playing on the top line with Robert Thomas and Pavel Buchnevich. Berggren played more than 17 minutes. He was closer to 11 minutes while with the Red Wings recently.

The Red Wings placed Berggren on waivers earlier this week and the Blues claimed him. He didn’t score in his first game with St. Louis but had three shots on goal. He scored in his only shot against the Rangers.

“I’m lucky it went in and nice to get the first one pretty early,” Berggren told NHL.com

Berggren, 25, now has three goals and 7 points in 17 games. That’s a 33-points pace over an 82-game season. The Blues are a struggling team and Berggren should benefit from increased playing time. The Blues will want to see what they have in Berggren.

Red Wings In Case You Missed It
