Two Djurgardens players in a row wasn’t on purpose; sometimes it just happens that way. Picking a Swede for the New York Rangers is a formula that feels pretty safe, and while Marcus Nordmark is somewhat of a reach at 10th overall, it feels like a reach that the Rangers would make. Nordmark is a highly skilled winger who brings a fairly complete game to the table, but his best quality is his vision and the playmaking abilities that it drives.

There’s a lot of will to create, with flashes of dynamic ability, though I’d like to see more than flashes of the latter if I’m going to feel great about this draft position. I would also like to see him move more into the middle and be more willing to engage physically. Currently, he prefers to do his creating from the perimeter, and while he doesn’t have me yelling at the TV as Porter Martone did, I still don’t love that. He’s quick to read plays as they unfold, though, perimeter or not, and has an active stick.
