The Islanders’ five-game home win streak ended with a very forgettable performance against the Vancouver Canucks, who swept their visit to the metro area and moved to a perfect 3-0 in the post-Quinn Hughes era.

After the Isles finally got on the board with Ilya Sorokin pulled with over five minutes to go, Kiefer Sherwood completed his hat trick into the empty net to attain the 4-1 final.

The Isles wasted a minute-long 5-on-3 early, then fell behind, 1-, 2- and 3-0 in the first period. They never looked to be back in it after that. Not much to say or take away from this one.

The Islanders have now lost two in a row and neither game looked particularly good. The ebbs and flows of a season, especially in the 2025-26 incarnation of the Eastern Conference.

It’s off to Buffalo for the back end of this back-to-back. Like the Wings and Canucks, the Sabres are in good form right now having won four in a row.

They’ll still be without Bo Horvat, who Roy confirmed would not make the trip upstate.
