The Los Angeles Kings had been shopping for center Phillip Danault. He then requested a trade. Tonight the Kings traded Danault to the Montreal Canadiens for a second-round pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft. Danault certainly needed a change of scenery as he was yet to score a goal and had only five assists in 30 games this season; he is a plus-three. The Montreal Canadiens are the perfect fit. Danaut spent 5.5 seasons with them from 2015-2021. It is more surprising that a scorer wasn’t included, but the draft pick is something to watch and could be flipped to add scoring in the middle of their lineup.
