Former Leafs enforcer Jay Rosehill displayed more passion in his very lengthy rant on Friday’s ‘Leafs Morning Take’ than the entire team did in Thursday’s 4-0 loss.

Head coach Craig Berube was at a loss for words following Thursday’s embarrassing loss to the Washington Capitals, simply telling reporters to ‘ask them (the players)’ about what went wrong.

Leafs’ Efforts Met With Massive Scrutiny From Fans and Media

Social media was buzzing after the Leafs’ 4-0 loss, with fans and media blasting the team for their lack of effort, compete level, saying the window has shut, and begging for trades.

Friday morning, their efforts — or lack there of, were front and center in Jay Rosehill’s very lengthy rant that was filled with more passion than any player showed on Thursday night.

“You f***ing prima donnas think you’re just going to shut it down, blow a whole bunch of points, embarrass yourselves and the entire f***ing organization to get what you want,” exclaimed the former Leafs tough guy.

Rosehill continued to fire away at what he, and many believe is a very spoiled group of stars, accusing them of intentionally tanking to get Craig Berube fired even though “he doesn’t do anything that would warrant that f***ing response from the team.”

In defending Berube, Rosehill made it clear that he and the Leafs’ bench boss didn’t have the best relationship when he played, but still respected him and does not believe that the players’ efforts should cost Berube his job.

If the Leafs displayed even half of the passion that Rosehill displayed during his rant, Thursday’s game would have been far closer. A few more efforts like Thursday, though, may lead to Berube looking for a new job, even though GM Brad Treliving gave him a vote of confidence only a month ago.

As the NHL’s holiday roster freeze is set to kick in Friday at midnight, major changes will have to wait, with fans and Berube for that matter, hoping Saturday’s effort in Nashville is far better than what we witnessed on Thursday.
