Changes have just been announced by the Montreal Canadiens following the Phillip Danault trade, and ahead of tonight’s game.

Martin St-Louis confirmed important decisions before the matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Mike Matheson will return, Jayden Struble will come out of the lineup, and Jacob Fowler will be in net.

Changes Announced by Martin St-Louis and the Montreal Canadiens Before Facing the Pittsburgh Penguins

Matheson’s return immediately changes the look of the defensive corps.

The 30-year-old defenseman has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury, but his return to the lineup stabilizes the blue line and will certainly help the young Fowler. Conversely, Jayden Struble will not be in uniform.

The decision drawing the most attention, however, is in goal. Jacob Fowler will start against Pittsburgh, as officially confirmed by head coach Martin St-Louis.

As mentioned earlier today, newly acquired Phillip Danault is expected to make his much-anticipated debut Tuesday when the Canadiens visit the Bruins.

Tonight’s game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. live from the Bell Centre as Sidney Crosby makes his much-anticipated visit to town.
