The Vancouver Canuck have now played three games without their former captain Quinn Hughes after he was traded to the Minnesota Wild, but the Canucks have yet to drop game since losing, most recently they defeated the New York Islanders 4-1.

“It’s unclear why Elias Pettersson was not at the goodbye dinner for Quinn Hughes, but at the end of the day, what matters is that the former captain was surrounded by some of his long-time teammates & friends, and they were able to reminisce about the good times before he jetted off for The State of Hockey.”-Jaxon

The Vancouver Canucks are heating up after trading their best player.

Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet has reported on the recent win streak of the Canucks, while most figured they would be packing it in, they look like a brand new team, and their last three games are by far the best of the season.

“Friday’s 4-1 wire-to-wire win against the New York Islanders was one of the Canucks’ best road games this season, and the team looks to have been not defeated by the blockbuster trade, but refocused and re-energized by it. “-MacIntyre

It could be from the new energy they got from their young acquisitions of Marco Rossi, Zeev Buium and Liam Omgren. But the older veterans look just as reenergized, and motivated to not throw in the towel so quickly.

“«I don’t think we were ever at a point thinking that we weren’t a good hockey team. The feeling in the room and the feeling in the media and whatever else, you know, it’s always what-have-you-done-for-me lately kind of thing. We’re winning right now, and we like winning. So try to keep that up.»-Demko

For some it’s a pleasant surprise that the Canucks have started to find their groove. For others it upsets them, since it is hurting their draft position, because there is still little hope anything comes from this season for the Canucks. Only time will tell if trading Hughes hurts or helps the team.
