The Carolina Hurricanes are going to be missing one of their best players for an extended period of time, as forward Seth Jarvis was injured Friday night after colliding with the post. Jarvis had been carrying the Hurricanes offense this season, so it’s going to be a huge loss for their hockey club.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour spoke after the game and shed some light on Jarvis’ status, stating things didn’t like very good for one of the team’s best players. “It’s not good,” Brind’Amour said after Friday’s 4-3 loss. “He’s going to be out for a while.” The play happened in overtime when Florida Panthers forward Evan Rodrigues tripped Jarvis and sent him crashing into the post.

The 23-year-old winger was on fire this season and is going to be named to Team Canada’s Olympic team in 11 days, so let’s hope for Canada’s sake, and Carolina’s, that he’s not going to miss too much time on the shelve. Jarvis has recorded 19 goals and 27 points in34 games this season.

The Hurricanes move on without one of their best forwards, as they look to maintain their lead in the Metropolitan Division over the Washington Capitals. The Hurricanes have been rumored to be open to making a trade or two early on in 2026, so we’ll see if losing Jarvis impacts that at all. Goaltender Frederik Andersen, prospects and draft picks are rumored to be in play, as the Hurricanes were one of the teams to make an offer to the Vancouver Canucks for Quinn Hughes.

Back to Jarvis, here’s the play that sent him to the IR:

Seth Jarvis will be “out a while”, head coach Rod Brind’Amour announced.
