COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — The Columbus Blue Jackets have bolstered their lineup by acquiring forward Mason Marchment from the Seattle Kraken. The trade, announced by club President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell, involves a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft (New York Rangers) and a second-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft going to Seattle.
Marchment, 30, brings a wealth of experience to the Blue Jackets, having registered 80 goals and 122 assists for 202 points in 331 career NHL games. Known for his physical play, Marchment has accumulated 284 penalty minutes and 503 hits, along with a +60 plus/minus rating. This season, he has played 29 games with the Kraken, collecting 13 points, 26 penalty minutes, and 38 hits.
“Mason is a player I know very well, and I think he will add a great deal to our team,” Waddell said.

Marchment, originally from Uxbridge, Ontario, began his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2019-20 season. He later played for the Florida Panthers and Dallas Stars, where he achieved back-to-back 22-goal seasons, including a career-high 53 points in the 2023-24 season.
In addition to the trade, forward Brandon Gaunce has been designated non-roster as he is away from the team due to personal reasons.
