The Avalanche were too much for the Minnesota Wild. Also, Sidney Crosby reached yet another legendary mark in his career, and the Detroit Red Wings can’t stop, won’t stop compiling wins.

All that and more on this edition of Deen’s Daily — December 22.

Colorado Hockey Now

The Avs made a statement on Sunday. After watching the Minnesota Wild end their 10-game winning streak on Black Friday, Colorado returned the favor by ending their seven-game winning streak on the road.

All the hype around the Wild — the goaltending, the addition of Quinn Hughes, and their surge up the standings. None of it was even remotely close to being a match for the No. 1-seeded Avs.

The power play was huge. As was the play of Gabe Landeskog, who found himself on the top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Martin Necas.

The second line? They were incredible, too. With two huge performances from the bunch. Also, a sequence to remember for Gavin Brindley.

Read all about it below in my latest 10 Observations piece.

Around The NHL

Detroit Hockey Now: Two games, two wins for the Red Wings against what was the Eastern Conference’s best, Washington Capitals. These two games just so happen to align with the mom’s trip.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: He’s done it! Sidney Crosby passes Mario Lemieux. It’s nice to look back to the 2005 draft, and how much pressure Crosby had to not only revive the Pittsburgh Penguins, but the entire NHL in general. He’s exceeded all expectations, more than we could’ve ever had for him.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Jack Hughes returned, and sparked the Devils. But it wasn’t enough.
