North Shore girls hockey is firing on all cylinders.
The Storm entered Monday evening as the winners of five straight having outscored their opponents by 21 goals across those contests.
North Shore sustained its run of dominance against Princeton/Big Lake/Becker in a 7-1 decision that secured the Storm’s sixth consecutive win. Junior forward Berkley Hoff scored twice and tallied an assist in the win.
Hallie Komarek, North Shore’s sophomore forward, was also instrumental on Monday. She mirrored Hoff’s performance, scoring two goals and also tallying an assist. Mikaela Lindgren was the defensive anchor, as she turned away 18 of 19 shots in the win.
North Shore (9-4) will be back in action on Monday, Dec. 29, against Albert Lea in Warroad.
Mountain Iron-Buhl 79, Cromwell-Wright 53
Four Mountain Iron-Buhl scorers in double figures proved to be too much for Cromwell-Wright to handle Monday evening.
Cooper Manas paced the Rangers with a game-high 20 points while Trey Niska and Logan Maras tallied 16 and 14 points, respectively. Izaiah Alsto chipped in 13 points in Mountain Iron-Buhl’s fourth consecutive win.
Brody Johnson led the Cardinals with 19 points while Carson Hill finished with 13 points. They were Cromwell-Wright’s only two players in double figures.
Two Harbors 85, International Falls 48
A big first half in which Two Harbors outscored International Falls 45-23 set the Agates up for success Monday evening. Jace Gomez poured in a game-high 24 points while Ryan Stone had 12 and Ezra Kuevi-Akoe finished with 10 points in the win.
The Agates have won seven straight to start the season, the program’s best start to a campaign since 2022-23.
Shell Lake 78, Solon Springs 70 (OT)
Solon Springs, after leading by as many as a dozen points, struggled to hold on in the closing minutes of regulation before ultimately coming up short in overtime.
The Eagles held a 53-38 lead, but foul trouble, which included three starters fouling out of the contest, proved to be too much for Solon Springs to overcome. They were depleted by the time the extra period arrived, which led to their second defeat of the season.
Addison McCuskey and Claire Beerntsen finished as co-leading scorers with 21 points while Kalli Nelson amassed 19 in the defeat. Alyssa Fossum also had six points.
Jenna Leask poured six 3-pointers for a team-high 18 points to lead the Spartans past Esko on Monday night. Avery Johnson finished with 13 while Ava Meierotto tallied a dozen. Ruby James also had 10 points in Superior’s second win in its last three games.
Leask’s dominance from the perimeter was the difference for a Spartans team that made 11 shots from beyond the arc against Esko.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of “staff.” Often, the “staff” byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
