Right now the Minnesota Wild are rolling as one of the best teams across the entire NHL. John Hynes’ squad dropped a tough one to Colorado on Sunday, but the Avalanche are one of two teams (including the Dallas Stars) that can look down on Minnesota.

Part of the reason Minnesota owns a 22-10-5 record is because their goaltending has been impressive. Filip Gustavsson remains the veteran anchor, while rookie Jesper Wallstedt has earned his “Wall of St. Paul” moniker.

They won’t be in the market for a goalie after acquiring Quinn Hughes, but that hasn’t stopped other teams from poking around on the Wild’s retired netminder.

Marc-Andre Fleury drawing interest while working with MN Wild

After wrapping up his playing career as a 40-year-old, Marc-Andre Fleury transitioned to a front office role with the Minnesota Wild. Although he could potential be an EBUG for the franchise, he seems happy in retirement. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun has reported teams won’t leave him along though.

Probably not surprising but hearing that some teams have checked in on Marc-Andre Fleury to see if there’s any chance at all he would consider playing again. Again not surprised teams with goalie needs would want to check on it.

Last season with the Wild, Fluery played in 26 games, starting 22 of them. His .899 save percentage was a tick above the .895 mark from the year prior, and not far off from his .912 career average.

The three-time Stanley Cup winner, and eventual Hall of Famer, really has nothing left to accomplish in his career. While teams needing help between the pipes are wise to check on him, he doesn’t need to jump at anything short of a contender. He also probably doesn’t need to look into anything until the second-half is underway.

It would be surprising to see Fleury step back on the ice, but such an incredible competitor will always have an itch to scratch. The right offer could be more enticing than watching the game from the sidelines.
