The Olympics are fast approaching and the Vancouver Canucks can see many of their players on their way to Milan for their respective countries, Elias Pettersson, Filip Hronek, Filip Chytil, Teddy Blueger and Lukas Reichel should all be expected to make the trip.
“The Vancouver Canucks organization is heading in a direction fans have been calling for for quite some time now – a rebuild, which Jim Rutherford was given permission to do by Francesco Aquilini.”-Jaxon
Multiple Vancouver Canucks expected to represent their countries in Milan.
Nathan Caddell of Straight.com reported on the projected players expected to play at the Olympics. Some are pretty much locks, while others remain on the bubble to make it. Teddy Blueger is already in for Team Latvia, and Lukas Reichel for Germany for example.
“Each Olympic team named six preliminary players to its roster in the summer. At the time, the Canucks had three players named, as Quinn Hughes (U.S.) and Arturs Silovs (Latvia) were on the team, along with Blueger. Now it’s two, since Hughes and Silovs have since been traded and Reichel came over from the Chicago Blackhawks during the season. “-Caddell
There’s also three players that haven’t been named to their teams but are mostly on the rosters for February. Pettersson for Sweden, Hronek and Chytil for Czechia, if Chytil is healthy that is. It’s definitely more likely they are on the team, than left off of it.
“Hronek has been quite solid to start this year, especially since the Quinn Hughes trade has forced him to be the team’s de facto number one defenceman. He’ll play a similar role with Czechia, as the team has few NHL blueliners to lean on.”-Caddell
The excitement for the Olympics is continuing to grow, especially after last year’s Four Nations faceoff. The quality of hockey is going to be on another level, Canucks fans can enjoy some of their players, performing at the highest level.
