William Nylander’s reaction to Max Domi’s highlight reel game-winning goal against the Penguins could be a sign of a positive turnaround for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs came into last night’s game with a 15-15-5 record, and dead last in the Eastern Conference. Simply put, there wasn’t much confidence or momentum to speak of.

However, even with no momentum coming in, the Leafs put forth their best effort in weeks, securing a 6-3 win over former GM Kyle Dubas’ Pittsburgh Penguins.

Max Domi was named the Maple Leafs’ Player of the Game, receiving the belt after the win, and it was largely due to his improved play, highlighted by his scintillating 3rd period goal, which he scored on an impressive end-to-end rush.

The goal was undoubtedly the highlight of the night across the NHL, and Domi’s teammate, William Nylander, who is known to score a highlight reel goal or two, could not stop raving about it after the game, calling the goal a “nasty” one.

Nylander’s ear-to-ear grin told the whole story, and also may be a sign that the pressure has begun to release a little bit in Toronto after a decisive win.

The Leafs will now enter the Christmas break on a winning note, which they can use to their advantage against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night, coming out of the break.

A confident Leafs team is a dangerous Leafs team, so the hope is that Domi’s breathtaking tally can breathe some life into his team and give them something to feed off of.
