Happy Holidays, everyone!

This year, Santa may have come early with the offseason acquisitions of Dan Vladar, Trevor Zegras, and Christian Dvorak. The three players have been a huge part of the team exceeding expectations this season. Fans have had plenty to smile about this holiday season.

If the Flyers had a holiday wishlist, what would be the top three wishes?

A No. 1 Center

Just like everything you put on a holiday wish list, you put the biggest wish first, right? A true No. 1 center would go nicely on top of the Flyers’ holiday wish list.

Philadelphia has been busy addressing its need for a top centerman over the past few seasons. They drafted Jett Luchanko 13th overall in 2024, passing on several prospects to pick the centerman. The Flyers also added Jack Berglund in that draft. In 2025, the Flyers traded for Trevor Zegras, as well as drafting Jack Nesbitt 12th-overall.

These moves are great for the depth of the position, but can any of them be a No. 1 center?

It’s still clear that the Flyers need a No. 1 center. So, whether it comes via an acquisition or someone from within the organization emerges as such, a top centerman should top the Flyers’ holiday wishlist.

A Tyson Foerster fill-in

Losing Tyson Foerster for the foreseeable future, and likely the season, is a crushing blow to this Flyers team. Especially when the playoffs are that crazy, a thought after all. However, as the season progresses, the absence of Foerster, one of the team’s best two-way players and goal scorers, will be felt.

One thing the Flyers will be wishing for: a fill-in for Foerster.

Maybe Christmas came early. Denver Barkey has looked pretty sharp in what NHL action he has had since being called up by the Flyers. The pesky forward is all over the puck and is a smart playmaker. He may not score the goals that Foerster would have, but he can still make a big offensive impact.

Or, maybe the Flyers look further in the farm and decide they want to give Alex Bump a shot at the NHL. He can score a ton of goals, and has been the beneficiary of a lot of Barkey’s playmaking down in Lehigh. Bump could be the Flyers’ Foerster fill-in.

Lastly, if the Flyers believe in their postseason push, maybe they could look to the trade market for that Foerster replacement. With Foerster being out for about five months, it’d likely be a rental, and not one that would break the bank. Maybe someone like Alex Wennberg in San Jose could be of interest.

A playoff berth

Finally, what else other than a playoff berth should be on the Flyers’ wishlist?

Philadelphia has not seen playoff hockey since the 2019-2020 season. They matched their franchise record (and not the good kind) for the most consecutive seasons without a playoff appearance at five. If they miss the playoffs this season, it becomes six years, and puts this team on the side of Flyers history they do not want to see.

This season, things are trending in the right direction. However, there is still plenty of time this season for the direction to change for the better or the worse.

The Flyers went into the holiday break 2nd in the metro with 45 points, which also puts the in third in the east.

While a No. 1 center might be the difficult request to find on the wishlist, a playoff berth may just be the most meaningful to this Flyers team.
