Philip Danault and his family

Phillip Danault’s return to Montreal changes life for the whole family. Last Friday, the Canadiens confirmed the acquisition of Phillip Danault from the Los Angeles Kings.

Danault also brings back a well-known story here, since he had already worn the Canadiens jersey before leaving in 2021.

The 32-year-old center arrives with a contract worth $5.5 million per season, which runs through the end of 2026-2027.

This year in Los Angeles, he had five assists and no goals in 30 games, which sets the starting point for this new chapter.

That helps, but it is still an uprooting, especially with two children to manage on a daily basis.

What stands out is that the change of scenery is being welcomed positively at home. The idea of seeing the children grow up in Quebec, of playing outside in the snow, really seems to appeal to them.

The couple’s young son reportedly already breaks into an easy smile whenever winter is mentioned.

Obviously, Montreal remains a demanding market, and the pressure is not the same as in California. But Phillip Danault has already lived through that for years, and the couple knows how to navigate this reality.

Returning to a locker room where familiar faces remain also makes the transition smoother. For now, there has not yet been a home game since his arrival, and the holiday season is slowing down the routine.

School and daycare are not yet setting the pace, but the excitement of a fresh start can be felt.

Phillip Danault had promised a beautiful Christmas, and let’s just say the gift arrived quickly.
