The Chicago Blackhawks have been one of the teams in the bottom of the NHL standings, but they have a lot of talent. One name who has been a top-tier player when on the ice is center Connor Bedard.
He has shown the ability to dominate already in his young career, but he could be getting the nod to join his countrymen. Let’s take a closer look at what one writer said regarding his chances to make the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Connor Bedard is a sleeper pick to join Team Canada

NHL’s Tracey Myers suggested that Bedard is one of the biggest sleeper picks for the Olympics, as he should be part of Team Canada.
“The Chicago Blackhawks forward was on the outside looking in regarding Team Canada when the season began but momentum started building for him after his tremendous start. He’s out with an upper-body injury until at least the start of January but I still believe he deserves a spot with Canada. When Bedard was placed on injured reserve Dec. 15, he had 44 points (19 goals, 25 assists) in 31 games. At the time, he was fourth in the NHL behind Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche (55), Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers (52) and Macklin Celebrini of the San Jose Sharks (47). Bedard has come into his game in a big way and once he’s back, he should be prepping for the Olympics.”
This is also not the only Blackhawks player to be named on this list either as Tyler Bertuzzi also was also mentioned for Team Canada. Bedard has the potential to be the next face of Team Canada, and making the 2026 Winter Olympic team would certainly be a step forward to that. Sidney Crosby is 38 years old, Nathan MacKinnon is 30, and Sam Reinhart is also 30. Getting a young potential face of the NHL on the Olympic roster would be critical for Team Canada and hockey as a whole.
