The Nashville Predators visit the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Dec. 27, looking to extend their three-game win streak.

The Predators beat the Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Dec. 23 on Steven Stamkos’ overtime winner, his 15th goal of the season. Nashville (16-16-4, 36 points) are now in fifth place in the Central Division as the league emerges from holiday break.

St. Louis (14-16-8, 36 points) is coming off a 4-1 loss to Tampa Bay on Dec. 22. The Blues are in sixth place in the Central Division and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Robert Thomas leads the Blues with nine goals and 18 assists.

The Predators won both previous meetings with the Blues, a 7-2 win on Dec. 11 and a 5-2 win on Dec. 15.

The goaltending matchup should feature Juuse Saros for the Predators and Joel Hofer for the Blues.

Cole Smith took a puck to his face and had to leave the game briefly. It didn’t look like a major collision, but enough to take him out of the game for a bit.

Smith recently returned from an upper body injury.

It looked like the Predators tied the game after Hofer misplayed the puck behind the net, giving Forsberg an easy goal. But on replay, Steven Stamkos was offside as the puck was dumped in, negating the goal.

Tough result, but the right call.

The Predators have more shot attempts than the Blues this period, but only a few shots on goal. That’s because the Blues are staying back in their own zone to prevent shots from getting to Hofer.

Nashville’s doing a nice job of cycling the puck in the offensive zone, but there’s not much room to shoot from the middle. Probably going to take another tipped goal in front, meaning more shots from the blue line.

Pavel Buchnevich scored on his own rebound to give the Blues a 2-1 lead with 1:46 left in the period. The goal came in transition as Buchnevich’s pass across inadvertently banked off Roman Josi, coming right back to Buchnevich for the score. The Predators had it played perfectly, but the Blues found a way.

Nashville leads in shots 8-6 after 20 minutes.

The Predators evened the score at the 11:41 mark of the first when Tyson Jost tipped in his third goal of the season.

An excellent play by Nicolas Hague at the blueline made it happen – Hague gathered the puck at the line and fired it to the net, where Jost was waiting.

After the Predators missed on their early power play chance, the Blues capitalize on theirs. Brayden Schenn tipped in a Cam Fowler shot from the blueline to go up 1-0.

Nashville will have to fight from an early deficit in this one.

Here’s how the Predators will lineup against the Blues:

Filip Forsberg – Ryan O’Reilly – Steven Stamkos

Michael Bunting – Erik Haula – Luke Evangelista

Tyson Jost – Fedor Svechkov – Matthew Wood

Reid Schaefer – Michael McCarron – Cole Smith

Defense:

Roman Josi – Nick Perbix

Brady Skjei – Adam Wilsby

Nicolas Hague – Nick Blankenburg

Goaltender: Juuse Saros
