Werenski’s move is retroactive to Dec. 20, when he first suffered a lower-body injury against the Ducks. He is listed as day-to-day.
Werenski leads the Blue Jackets with 14 goals and 26 assists and ranks second among league defencemen for goals and points. The 28-year-old also ranks second among NHL defencemen for time on ice, averaging 26:48 per game.
Olivier had missed 13 games with an upper-body injury he suffered on Nov. 24. Over the 28-year-old’s 273 career NHL games he has recorded 34 goals and 41 assists. This year he has three goals and six assists in 23 games.
The Blue Jackets are last in the Eastern Conference with a 15-15-6 record.
