As the team continues to look for answers in light of their recent struggles, 21-year-old defenseman Maveric Lamoreux has been recalled by the Utah Mammoth.
Through 19 games in the AHL with the Tucson Roadrunners this season, Lamoureux has registered 9 assists, 27 shots on goal, 19 penalty minutes and has a plus/minus of plus four.

Why has Maveric Lamoureux been recalled by the Utah Mammoth?
After sending Dmitri Simashev down to Tucson on Tuesday afternoon, the Mammoth had a vacant roster spot to fill on their blue line.

As Tucson’s top defenseman and with Olli Maatta still on injured reserve, it only makes sense that Lamoureux would get another shot with the NHL club.
Additionally, as one of six former first-round draft selections (2022, 29th overall) by Bill Amstrong, the team is still in a position where some of their higher end young players are beginning to gradually make their way to the NHL.
Now, this doesn’t mean that Utah has given up on their playoff hopes this year as they can and arguably should punch their ticket to the postseason in 2026.
But with players such as Lamoureux, But, Simashev, Tij Iginla, Cole Beaudoin and Caleb Desnoyers in their prospect pool, the Mammoth will remain relatively young for the next few years as they continue to build towards consistent playoff contention.
As for Lamoureux, this will be his second stint with the team as he made his NHL debut with the Utah Hockey Club last season.
In 15 NHL appearances, Lamoureux registered one goal, two assists, 11 blocks, 18 hits and 42 penalty minutes.
