Three of the Philadelphia Flyers’ six prospects were in play on Day 3 of World Juniors.
First up, it was Jack Berglund and the Swedes taking on Switzerland. Sweden scored three times in the third period to lift them to a 4-2 win in the game. The biggest stars in Sweden showed up, with Anton Frondell (CHI), Ivar Stenberg (2026), Viggo Bjrock (2026), and Eric Nilson (ANA) all registering points. Berglund was held off the scoresheet.
That game was followed by Finland vs. Latvia, where the Finns dominated the same Latvia team that took Canada to overtime less than 24 hours prior, in a huge 8-0 win. Finland held Latvia to just 7, that’s right, 7 shots on goal.
Flyers’ prospect Heikki Ruohonen and Max Westergard combined for five total points in the game. Ruohonen had a goal and two assists (both primary), while Max Westergard had a goal and a primary assist as well.
Take a look at both Flyers prospects’ goals.
Ruohonen has had a knack for the big moments, like World Juniors. Westergard has shown he can rise to the occasion at U18s and is doing so at the World Juniors. Both players are making a name for themselves at the tournament.
