Former Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach Marc Savard was quick to change allegiances after a new social media post appeared to show he’s moved on from his firing.
When the Maple Leafs fired Marc Savard, it wasn’t personal. It was strictly a business decision due to Toronto holding the league’s worst power play and Savard; who was in control of it, wasn’t able to get them out of their worsening rut.
Marc Savard quickly a Boston fan again
Fans are quickly over the Savard era and are bidding good riddance to the former assistant and it seems like he’s doing the exact same thing.
In a new post on Savard’s personal X account, he posted a photo of him playing for the Boston Bruins way back when and captioned it quite cheekily:
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this is clearly a shot at the Maple Leafs and the fact that Savard would rather forget his tenure there and move onto his old team; at least as a fan for now.
Fans having a field day with Marc Savard’s post
There’s no word on whether or not Savard would be getting a coaching job again either with the Bruins or elsewhere, however it’s a sign that if there were any regrets about his time in Toronto; they are few and far between.
Fans are also poking fun at Savard’s post, with many of them commenting either about his time in Toronto, and some wish he could come back to Beantown:
Call Savard a scapegoat, or a small issue in a much bigger scope of problems but the fact remains that he was ineffective this season with a whole whack of stars at his disposal. Sullivan has come in and while it hasn’t been perfect, the new-look power play at least has energy.
For now, Savard should probably take a little bit of a breather and get away from all the noise for a bit before getting another coaching job. It’s not that he’s necessarily a terrible coach, but he might not be suitable to run a power play.
Whether he gets that job or not in the future remains to be seen but it looks like he’s got no issues with being let go from the Maple Leafs which was probably the right call anyways.
