The Calgary Flames and goaltender Devin Cooley have reached a two-year contract extension worth $2.7 million, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal carries an average annual value of $1.35 million.
The 28-year-old from Los Gatos, Calif., has been solid so far this season for Calgary, going 4-4-2 with a 2.40 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.
Undrafted to begin his professional career, Cooley made his NHL debut with the San Jose Sharks in 2023-24, going 2-3-1 with a .870 SV% and a 4.98 GAA in six games.
He joined the Flames organization in 2024 on a two-year, $1.55 million contract and spent all of last season with the AHL’s Calgary Wranglers, posting a 21-17-5 record with a .905 SV% and a 2.94 GAA. His showing with the Wranglers was enough to convince general manager Craig Conroy to entrust him with the backup role behind Dustin Wolf this season.
The Flames sit second-last in the Pacific Division at 17-18-4 for 38 points in 39 games.
