The Colorado Avalanche have no shortage of Olympic quality skaters this year, with Cale Makar, and Nathan MacKinnon joining Devon Toews as representatives for Team Canada this coming February.

With one goal and eleven assists so far on the season, Toews has been averaging 22 minutes a night with the Avalanche this season while expecting his fourth child with wife Kerry Wetzelberger. However, according to Colorado reporter Colleen Flynn, Toews plans to stay with his wife and until the birth of their child, which is expected in February, around the same time as the Olympics. Toews is in his sixth season with the Avalanche, winning the Stanley Cup with the team during their 2021-22 run.

The Canadian defenseman was originally drafted by the New York Islanders, playing with the team until he was traded to the Avalanche for the 2020-21 season for a pair of second round picks. Toews has been outstanding in his time with Colorado, playing most nights on a pairing with Makar manning one of the best pairs in the league. In his six seasons with the Avalanche, Toews hasn’t posted a rating below +24, and while this year has seen his goal scoring pace drop somewhat, he is still performing at a high level for the NHL’s best team.

Toews and Wetzelberger were married in 2020, and have three children so far, two boys, and one girl.
