New FBI video shows suspected Brown University shooter leaving scene
A new series of clips posted by the FBI appears to show the Brown University shooter before the shooting, but also leaving the scene after the attack.
When the Boston Bruins took the ice at TD Garden on Tuesday, Dec. 16, they had a special jersey behind their bench.
The NHL team had a jersey made to honor the shooting victims at Brown University, and it was hanging behind their bench as the Bruins (19-14) hosted the Utah Mammoth (16-15-3). The sweater bore the numbers “401” to represent the Rhode Island area code, with the words “BROWN UNIV” above the numbers.
The Boston Bruins were among several teams that posted statements to social media in the wake of the deadly mass shooting. The Bruins’ Dec. 16 game was also preceded by a moment of silence for the Brown victims as well as those killed during a Dec. 13 mass shooting at a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
“The Boston Bruins and Providence Bruins are extremely saddened to learn of the tragic events that took place this evening at Brown University,” the Boston Bruins posted on Saturday. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to those affected and their families and are keeping the Brown University community and the city of Providence in our thoughts during this difficult time.”
The Bruins’ AHL affiliate, the Providence Bruins, play at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in downtown Providence.
Brown University has a long history of its hockey players reaching the NHL, including Garnet Hathaway, currently with the Philadelphia Flyers, and Sam Lafferty, now playing for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The manhunt continues for the suspect in Saturday’s mass shooting after law enforcement released enhanced video and images of the person they believe is responsible. A $50,000 reward has been established by the FBI for information that leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the shooter, whom law enforcement described as “armed and dangerous.”
Tips can be called in to the Providence Police at 401-272-3121, called in to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or electronically at tips.fbi.gov.
Brown University officially identified the two students killed in the shooting as Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov. Nine others were injured in the shooting.
