Two more goals and Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane will be joining the NHL’s exclusive 500-goal club.

Playing with a future Hall of Famer like Kane, his teammates appreciate the unique skill level he brings to the ice.

“He can still handle the puck as good as ever,” linemate Andrew Copp said. “It’s a pleasure to see him operate on the half wall on the power play. Glad he’s on our team.”

Patrick Kane said his son is getting impatient with his chase to 500 goals.

“He gets mad at me when we play and I don’t score. I’m stuck on 497, 498, whatever it is,” the Red Wings forward said, smiling at his locker on Tuesday. “He’s staying on top of it.” pic.twitter.com/0JEyC4yrzt

They’re also looking forward to sharing the milestone moment with him

“Some pretty impressive company,” Detroit teammate James van Riemsdyk said of Kane’s impending place in NHL history. “That’s some impressive total. So that’s definitely fun to see him closing in.”

When he gets there, Kane will be the 50th NHLer to do so. He’ll also be joining this exclusive list of players who’ve netted NHL milestone goals while wearing a Red Wings uniform.
