With the injury list being quite long for the Montreal Canadiens, one member of the team could be returning to action very soon.

The good news for the team is that a defenseman could be back shortly.

Kaiden Guhle: an absence that could be ending soon

On Thursday, Eric Engels brought up the possible return of a Canadiens defenseman.

“Canadiens are being cautious with Kirby Dach’s return from a fractured foot. We’re at the six-week mark, but might be just a bit longer before he’s 100%.

Meanwhile, Kaiden Guhle trending in the right direction. Some optimism he could be back shortly after Habs return from the road.”

He writes that the defenseman is progressing in the right direction and even mentions a return shortly after the Canadiens’ road trip comes to an end. The most recent medical update mentioned surgery on his adductor, performed in New York.

Meanwhile, Kirby Dach is still being evaluated for a fractured right foot that was announced on November 16. The Canadiens initially spoke of an absence of four to six weeks, but Engels says the team is proceeding with caution.

As for Patrik Laine, he underwent surgery for a sports hernia, with a recovery timeline of three to four months.

Despite all of this, the Canadiens finished 2025 with a record of 22-12-6.

If Guhle returns quickly, it would be excellent news for the team.
