When it comes to holidays in Dallas, the Cowboys takeover Thanksgiving. However, the Stars have claimed New Year’s Eve for themselves for a few years now and they have done very well in these games.
As we ring in the New Year tonight, many will be celebrating around the world. I think an underrated event is New Year’s Eve in Dallas. Mainly for the fact, the Dallas Stars typically have a home game at American Airlines Center that night. Plus the Stars typically win.
A few lockout years with the season starting later prevented the Stars from hosting New Year’s Eve games every season. Plus on December 31, 2019 the Dallas Stars had off since they were playing in The Winter Classic the next day at the Cotton Bowl. New Year’s Eve has been good to the Stars especially in recent years. The team has an overall record of 16-5-3 on New Year’s Eve.
Unfortunately the Buffalo Sabres have been a joke in recent years. They currently hold the longest postseason drought in the NHL with failing to qualify the past fourteen seasons. Do not sleep on the 2025 Sabres right now. They’re coming in very hot going for their tenth consecutive win against the Stars tonight.
