Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote made some interesting comments following last night’s loss about the team’s chances of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“We felt that the package Minnesota came up with, with the younger players and it gives us a chance to step back here and retool it a little bit with a hybrid form and getting two young players, Buium is 20, Ohgren is 21 and we needed a center here and Rossi is a highly-talented player that’s very consistent in the league and just 24.” Allvin said last month.

Adam Foote makes interesting comments about Vancouver Canucks & Stanley Cup Playoffs

If you were to ask any Vancouver Canucks fan – do you think the team will make the Stanley Cup Playoffs? They’ll probably laugh at you and tell you to look at the standings and while they might only be six points back of Los Angeles for the second wild card spot, it’s probably unrealistic to expect them to be in the postseason, unless you’re Adam Foote.

Following last night’s overtime loss to the Boston Bruins, Adam Foote told reporters that his team is “right there” in the hunt for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot and they don’t want to fall further out of the mix.

“Well, we’re hanging in there. Hopefully, we get Chytil back soon, and Blueger. You just don’t want the playoffs out of reach. It’s still there.” Adam Foote said.

Tyson Cole of Canucks Army shared his thoughts on Foote’s comments on social media last night, saying that the team would have to hop over seven clubs just to reach the postseason and right now, no fan wants to hear the term “playoffs” when it comes to this group.

“I don’t want to drag Adam Foote; I genuinely feel bad for him with a struggling team as a first-year head coach, but it’s January. You’re 31st in the NHL standings. Sure, you can frame it as you’re only six points out of a playoff spot, but you have to jump seven teams to get there, all without the best player in franchise history. Nobody wants to hear about playoffs right now.” Cole said.

After back-to-back losses to begin 2026, the Vancouver Canucks will look to get back into the win column on Tuesday night as they begin a five-game road trip in Buffalo against the Sabres, with puck drop set for 4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet Pacific.
