One win in nine games.

It’s officially the worst stretch the Golden Knights have ever had, and frustration is starting to seep in.

Enough’s enough. If the guys believe they are a 1st place team, a contender, then enough’s enough, start playing like one. -Bruce Cassidy

The Golden Knights have been on the right side of the scoreboard just once in the last 23 days. They’ve been without Jack Eichel, Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb, William Karlsson, and Adin Hill for some or all of it, but the captain isn’t using that as an excuse.

When guys go out of the lineup, we’re missing our top pair defense, you want everybody to get just a little bit better. As forwards, you need to elevate your game to help. We’ve got guys playing bigger minutes than they’re used to, you have to help and support them the best way you can but also you want to hold guys accountable to make the right plays. -Mark Stone

Stone has been leading by example. He’s scored in four straight games and has eight goals in the last 11 games. He’s posted just a +1 rating at even strength and has been on the ice for six goals against in the last nine games, though. Zach Whitecloud, Noah Hanifin, and Brett Howden, all players who have seen their minutes increase amidst the injuries, have each been on the ice for at least 10 goals against at 5-on-5 in the last nine games.

Reilly Smith, Mitch Marner, Jeremy Lauzon, Tomas Hertl, Pavel Dorofeyev, Ben Hutton, and Braeden Bowman have each been out there for at least a goal per game since the 1-5-3 skid began.

You don’t want to get down on each other but you also want to hold each other to a high standard and a high accountability. -Stone

VGK have allowed 3.78 goals per game, they’re killing penalties at just 76.5% rate, and despite scoring first in five of the nine games, have won just once.

You’ve gotta friggin’ hate losing at some point. The only way you’ll get back to winning is if you hate losing a little more. -Cassidy

There’s only one team playing worse than the Golden Knights since mid-December. Luckily, that team is on the schedule tomorrow. The Winnipeg Jets have lost nine straight games and are on a dismal 3-14-4 run.

If VGK truly do hate losing, there’s no better time than to prove it tomorrow night.
