The Vancouver Canucks have made all their players available to trade, looking to get younger and also acquire draft picks, and the Montreal Canadiens are interested in both Elias Pettersson and Kiefer Sherwood.

“During the Saturday Headlines segment on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman shared that the Vancouver Canucks have made a new contract offer to Kiefer Sherwood recently, but added that both sides are still pretty far apart and that he doesn’t have a timeline for when a trade may occur.”-Jaxon

Hockey Insiderr on X posted the latest rumours regarding the trade negotiations between the Canucks and the Canadiens. Kapanen and a first are definitely apart of the package but the Canadiens will likely have to add more if they want to get both Pettersson and Sherwood.

Patrick Allvin and Jim Rutherford have made it clear they want the team to get younger, but not primarily through draft picks, calling it a hybrid retool instead of a rebuild. While a first round pick is obviously nice to get, they want established young players, in order to become competitive again in a few years.

Pettersson and Sherwood would also help the Canadiens a lot, they need more help at centre, and some physicality, Sherwood being second in the league in hits is definitely a goo start. The Habs will just have to provide more than what is originally rumoured to get both.
