You know you’re doing something right when The Great One makes a special visit to your locker room.
That was the case for Dallas Stars players on Saturday night after they finished off the Winnipeg Jets in Game 6 and punched their ticket to the Western Conference finals.

Wayne Gretzky, who works as a studio analyst for TNT and, oh yeah, happens to be the universally accepted hockey G.O.A.T., stopped by the Stars’ locker room after Dallas’ 2-1 overtime win to give his congratulations on a great season and wish the team luck moving forward in the playoffs.

Video from Gretzky’s visit includes some self-deprecating humor from Jamie Benn and Gretzky telling Wyatt Johnston that he’s always “giving his brother s—” for not selecting Johnston in the 2021 NHL draft. Gretzky’s brother Keith works as an assistant general manager for the Edmonton Oilers, the Stars’ opponent in the conference finals.

The two will share the spotlight in a star-packed Western Conference finals.
The winner of Florida-Carolina will meet the winner of Dallas-Edmonton in the Stanley Cup finals.
The Stars have played with 11 forwards and seven defensemen the last three games to limit Heiskanen’s minutes.
