Maple Leafs vs. Panthers: The matchup

The Panthers closed out a rocky home stand with a 2-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche, who own the NHL’s best record at 31-3-7, after losing three of their previous four home matchups. Florida arrives in Toronto sitting in the middle of the pack in a tight Atlantic Division race with its 22-16-3 record and 47 points as the franchise pursues its third straight Stanley Cup title. Veteran forward Brad Marchand leads the team in scoring with his 23 goals (tied with Sam Reinhart), assists (23) and points (46), while top goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky carries a 17-10-1 record, a 2.84 goals against average and 88.5% save percentage.

The Maple Leafs sit at 19-15-7 with 45 points and are seventh out of eight teams in a tight Atlantic Division, but the team is notably different on its home ice. Toronto is 14-5-5 at Scotiabank Arena this season, which is the best mark in the Eastern Conference, and 5-0 over its past five home tilts. The Panthers arrive in that challenging environment as slight betting favorites (-120) in the Maple Leafs’ first home game of the 2026 calendar year.
