The Laval Rocket announced Tuesday that forward Joshua Roy will be sidelined due to an upper-body injury.

His absence is estimated at four to six weeks, which would put his return, at best, in early February. No further details were provided beyond that timeline.

With Laval this season, Roy has totaled 18 points in 22 games: 8 goals, 10 assists, and 12 penalty minutes. Over his AHL career, he has recorded 85 points in 110 games. In the spring of 2025, he added 10 points in 13 playoff games.

With the Montreal Canadiens, he has played 38 career games, collecting 11 points. This season in the NHL, he appeared in three games without recording a point.

At the highest level, his totals stand at 6 goals and 5 assists. He was selected 150th overall by the Canadiens in the 2021 draft.

Roy, 22, stands 6 feet tall and weighs 192 pounds. He is signed to a three-year entry-level contract with a cap hit of $835,000. For 2025-2026, his base salary is listed at $775,000, and he will become a restricted free agent (RFA) in 2026.

The Rocket return to action Friday at Place Bell against the Rochester Americans. Laval follows up Saturday against the Syracuse Crunch. In their most recent snapshot, Laval held a 21-11-1 regular-season record.

On the scoring leaderboard, Laurent Dauphin has 38 points, while Alex Belzile leads the team with 18 goals.

Roy’s absence forces adjustments, but the organization remains focused on its schedule. Above all, the hope is for a quick recovery, because January waits for no one.
