This one meant a little more to Trevor Zegras than anyone else wearing Orange and Black. It showed from the jump.

Zegras scored twice in the first period against his former team, helping the Flyers to a 5-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena.

The Ducks got an early power play in the game, as Noah Cates was given an instigator minor and 10-minute misconduct after dropping the gloves with Jansen Harkins for a high hit on Bobby Brink. Brink left the game and did not return.

On the ensuing power play, the Ducks took the lead. It was Cutter Gauthier, the former first-round pick of the Flyers, scoring his 20th of the season on a one-timer to make it 1-0.

But a former Anaheim Duck helped the Flyers take the lead in the first. Zegras scored moments after a power play expired at 10:22 to tie the game at one. Zegras added another on the power play at 14:23 for his second goal of the period and 17th of the season to make it 2-1 Flyers.

Through 20 minutes, shots were 13-5 Flyers.

Just 1:15 into the second, the Flyers added to the lead. Cam York scored his third goal of the season through a screen to make it 3-1.

At 2:39 of the period, there was a scary moment as Jamie Drysdale was crashed into by Ross Johnston and sprawled on the ice. Johnston was assessed a major penalty for interference and a game misconduct. Drysdale was able to skate off the ice, despite the stretcher being brought out, but did not return to the game.

The Flyers added to the lead again at 14:40. Off a face-off, Travis Sanheim blasted home his fifth goal of the season to make it 4-1.

Through two periods, shots were 31-10 Flyers.

The Ducks got back to within two at 1:25 of the third. Alex Killorn scored his fourth goal of the season on the power play to make it 4-2.

Nikita Grebenkin iced the game with an empty-net goal with 1:14 to go.

Dan Vladar made 16 saves on 18 shots in the win. Lukas Dostal made 34 saves on 38 shots in the loss.

Zegras, York, Grebenkin, and Cates each had two points for the Flyers. Troy Terry and Jackson Lacombe had two points each for Anaheim.

The Flyers are back on the ice on Thursday night to face the Toronto Maple Leafs at 7 p.m.
