Two of the Calgary Flames’ top prospects shone bright at the IIHF World Juniors over the past few weeks.
While earning the bronze medal might not be the finish Canada wanted, they proved once again to be a top team in the tournament.
2024 Calgary Flames first-round draft pick Zayne Parekh and 2025 first-round pick Cole Reschny helped propel Canada to being a favourite in the tournament.
Reschny, in seven games played, had four games and one assist. He now returns to North Dakota to continue playing NCAA Division I hockey with North Dakota. In 16 games played so far with North Dakota, he has two goals and 16 assists in 16 games played.
Parekh showed off his skills in the tournament as well, as he now holds the record for most points by a Canadian at the tournament with 13, five goals and eight assists.
He was also named to the Media All-Star Team as a top defensive player of the tournament.
According to reports, he will now join the Calgary Flames on their upcoming five-game road trip. Parekh has already suited up for 11 games with the Flames this season, averaging 14:46 of ice time and tallying one assist.
