Edmonton Oilers forward Adam Henrique is expected to be out until after the Olympic break with an undisclosed injury, the team announced Wednesday evening.

That means the earliest Henrique could return would be Feb. 25 when the Oilers resume their season in Anaheim against the Ducks. Edmonton also moved the veteran centre to the injured reserve list on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old departed Tuesday’s game against the Nashville Predators in the opening period and did not return. After the game, head coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters he would be out “a little while.”

Henrique took two shifts in his 2:26 of action and blocked one shot. The Oilers went on to win the game 6-2.

Henrique has two goals and eight assists in 43 games this season while averaging 13:50 of ice time per game.
