Most of next Wednesday’s NHL schedule activity will belong to inter-conference games, and even though the clash that will feature the clash between the Ottawa Senators and the Utah Mammoth doesn’t generate any expectations from the ice hockey fans, both teams are expected to perform near their best performance.
The referred expectation makes sense when looking at that both teams are currently out of the playoff spots in their respective conferences; however, the Utah Mammoth could take advantage of playing at home to try to take the San Jose Sharks or the Los Angeles Kings from the eighth spot in the Western Conference’s standings. Despite this, the Mammoth have only been able to win one of their last five games in regulation time.
As for the Ottawa Senators, they were unable to extend their two-game winning streak after losing their most recent divisional game against the Detroit Red Wings (5-3), a game during which they showed deep defensive troubles, especially in the first period. With this in mind, the Senators aren’t expected to show a significant improvement for the second half of the regular season, so they aren’t expected to qualify for the playoffs.
