SUPERIOR, Wis. (Northern News Now) – The University of Wisconsin-Superior men’s hockey team hadn’t played on home ice since December 3, and quickly shook off the rust in a 3-2 win over Beloit College.
The Yellowjackets scored the only goal of the first period when Kade Shae shot one top-shelf to put UWS up 1-0.
Beloit scored back-to-back goals to open the second and take the lead, but Andrew Larson tied the game a few minutes later, and Blake Setter scored the eventual game-winning goal with seven minutes left.
The Yellowjackets swept the season series against the Buccaneers, outscoring Beloit 12-6.
UWS goaltender Jack Boschert got the win between the pipes, making 18 saves in the victory.
The Yellowjackets hit the ice on Friday, January 9 when they travel to Moorhead, Minn, to take on Concordia.
