On Sunday morning, as the club prepared to depart to Montreal for Monday night’s game at the Bell Centre against the Canadiens, the Canucks announced on social media that they’ve placed goaltender Thatcher Demko on injured reserve retroactive to January 10th.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Thatcher Demko has been placed on IR (retroactive to Jan. 10).” the Canucks said.

In addition to placing Thatcher Demko on injured reserve, the Vancouver Canucks have called up goaltender Nikita Tolopilo and defenseman Victor Mancini from the American Hockey League, while assigning defenseman Elias Pettersson to the Abbotsford Canucks.
“General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Elias Pettersson has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL), D Victor Mancini has been recalled from Abbotsford and G Nikita Tolopilo has been recalled from Abbotsford under emergency conditions.” the Canucks said.
Mancini, 23, hasn’t appeared in an NHL game for the Canucks since October 26th against the Edmonton Oilers when he suffered an injury and once he recovered, he was sent down to the AHL, where he has six points in 20 games.
As for Nikita Tolopilo, he’s made four appearances for the Vancouver Canucks this season after Thatcher Demko was sidelined with an injury between early November and early December.
The Vancouver Canucks will look to stop the bleeding tomorrow night on Prime Monday Night Hockey as they take on Nick Suzuki and the Montreal Canadiens at 4:30 p.m. PT.
