Vancouver Canucks management called out as unfit to lead the franchise through a rebuild

A National Hockey League insider is questioning whether or not the Vancouver Canucks have the right management group in place to undergo a rebuild.

The word “rebuild” is something that Vancouver Canucks fans have thrown around on social media for years – literally – as many want the organization to tear things down and start anew.

“We felt that the package Minnesota came up with, with the younger players and it gives us a chance to step back here and retool it a little bit with a hybrid form and getting two young players, Buium is 20, Ohgren is 21 and we needed a center here and Rossi is a highly-talented player that’s very consistent in the league and just 24.” Allvin said.

After hearing the words “hybrid retool”, Vancouver Canucks fans have been confused, frustrated and of course, their play on the ice isn’t helping as they sit dead last in the National Hockey League’s overall standings with a record of 16-23-5 through 44 games.

“With that concern in mind, it’s hard not to look back at some of the critical moments over the last 12 months where the Canucks missed key opportunities to maximize future asset value. Some will say there’s no point in crying over spilled milk, but these missteps are relevant to the future because they capture the organization’s repeated failure to follow a big-picture plan. And until the franchise shows it can stick to a patient, disciplined blueprint, it can’t be trusted to nail a rebuild.” Dayal said.

This year’s trade deadline is massive for the organization as they need to acquire assets that are going to aid in this rebuild and at this point, aside from a select few players, everyone on this roster should be available.

Once the regular season concludes it’s going to be very interesting to see whether or not the Vancouver Canucks continue with Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford at the helm, or if they’ll make a big change in the front office, but a lot of it will come down to how much Francesco Aquilini trusts the duo to turn things around.
